Chapter Thirty
When she got to the store, she gently pulled open the door and stepped inside. The smell of lavender hit her. She made her way to Ms. Taylorâs office, Lily following behind, and knocked on the door. Ms. Taylor opened the door and pulled Brielle into a hug. She saw the puffiness that lined Brielleâs eyes. âHoney, you donât look so good. What is going on? Are you okay?â Brielle tried nodding in response but broke down into tears. Ms. Taylor closed the door. âSit down, tell me everything.â Brielle took a few breaths to steady her breathing.
âWell, you know how Landon and I were dating for a bit?â Ms. Taylor nodded. âI donât know where it all went wrong,â Brielle said as more tears fell down her face. âIt started so well. We went on a cute sushi date and then karaoke, and we made pizzas together. I thought we had a good
connection. We went home that night⦠and well, he ended up staying the night. Iâm sure you can imagine what happened. Then I freaked out the next morning. I felt like it was going to be Luke 2.0. and I guess I just panicked. I yelled at him. Then he asked me to have coffee later that day. He begged for a chance, and I gave it to him. Then he pushed his limits too far.â Brielle was babbling. âI thought I told him no, but the more I think about it, the more Iâm not quite sure. He was doing all this cute stuff for me, but Iâm not entirely sure, but Iâm pretty sure that something might be going on between him and Chloe. I donât have any proof, and I might be overthinking that one, but I just have a feeling. A bad one. Lily put her hand on Brielleâs shoulder. She wished she knew how to comfort her better. Brielle began sobbing, and the three of them sat there in silence. Brielle just wished she was never born. She wished that all her attempts through the years had worked. The thought of what it would be like to run a blade through her wrists played on her mind over and over again. She wanted to watch the blood pool up and drip down her arm. She imagined closing her eyes and not waking up. She wished a merciful death upon herself. Eventually, she stopped crying and just sat there numb. It had been a while since she felt this way. It was an unwelcome feeling. She thought back to her last attempt. It was almost successful. She plotted how she would actually do the job this time. Time played in slow motion in her head. She began to lose her surroundings and felt them turning into nothingness. Brielle leaned back into her chair. She stared at the ceiling, trying to form a thought. Her brain felt like it had lost power. She hated herself.
Everything about her made her want to throw up.
âBrielle, this probably isnât what you want to hear right now,â Brielle looked up towards Ms.
